RECEPIE OF PIGMENT PRINTING BINDER

Pigment printing technique is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world. Major reasons for this popularity have been

(a) Significant reduction in the cost of printing
(b) The extreme use of colouration  and
(c) The recently improved quality of prints.

In USA, usage of pigments is recommended particularly  because of pollution control.

Pigments have little real substantivity for textiles and therefore must be held onto the fabric surface by means of binders. These  binders are low molecular weight polymers and copolymers at the time of application. Upon further polymerisation, they crosslink and bond to the textile fiber resulting in all - round  better fastness properties to Washing, Rubbing and Wet  Scrubbing. Our Binder, “BINDER -  VLN”, is prepared under strict quality control maintained during  manufacture and ensures excellent degree of fastness  properties achieved  by any versatile binder system.

Our  “BINDER   -   VLN” for pigment printing consists of 28 – 30 % of Polymer content and 38 – 40 % of solid content. It contains all essential constituents to obtain a firm stable film, giving outstanding fastness characteristics to the important agencies like fastness to Washing, Rubbing (Dyeing & wet ) and wet Scrubbing.

The  method of printing consists of:

(a) Preparation of Reduction Binder and
(b) Addition of the requisite quantity of colour and catalyst to the above (with extra quantity of the binder depending upon the depth of the shade).

REDUCTION BINDER:

10	parts of binder
9	parts of water
1	part of CMC thickening of low viscosity type
80	parts of Kerosene or Mineral Turpentine under high speed stirring
100	parts

PREPARATION OF PRINTING PASTE:

1 - 8	parts of pigment colour
95 - 71	parts of Reduction Binder
0 - 17	parts of Binder
4	parts of Ammonium Diphosphate Solution  ( 25 %)

The goods are printed, dried and cured at 150ï‚°c for 4 minutes.

N.E.: In case of deeper shades using higher amount of the dye-stuff, it is imperative to use higher quantity of the binder as under.

9	parts of water
71	parts of kerosene under high sped stirring

For  good fastness to washing, Rubbing and Scrubbing agencies, a ratio of Pigment to Binder can be adjusted to  1 : 3
